Instructions

Based upon today’s readings and discussions in class, your task is to prepare an approximately 1-page outline that summarizes the debate surrounding p-values and hypothesis testing. You should include information about strengths, limitations, and misuses of hypothesis testing, but otherwise you may include any information or examples you deem appropriate.

Your goal in creating this outline is to develop an alternate form of summary that clear, concise, and comprehensive. Fitting everything you’d like to say about this topic into a 1-page outline is challenging, so you should work on being concise and avoiding redundancy.

Guidance/Examples

The University of Washington has a nice guide you can follow for creating an outline.

  • The main topic of your outline is hypothesis testing and p-values. So, the largest groupings (outermost bullets) should each identify a main point or category related to this topic.
  • Underneath your main points/categories, you should include at least two sub-points or subcategories that provide support or additional information related to the main point they are associated with.
